Continuous Microsoft 365 and Azure Security Posture, Powered by a Copilot Agent

Is your tenant actually hardened, or does it just look fine from the outside? In many organizations the Microsoft 365 and Azure environment grows over time: users, groups, permissions, applications, Conditional Access, SharePoint, Defender, Sentinel, cloud resources, and more. The problem is that there is rarely a single, clear view of where the real risks are. To close that gap we built a solution based on a Copilot Agent plus Power Automate and an Azure Function that performs an intelligent scan of the Azure and Microsoft 365 environment and returns operational security recommendations.

What's on offer

The idea is simple. Instead of manually moving between dozens of portals, settings, and reports, the agent receives a question, runs a secure assessment process, analyzes the findings, and returns a clear, organized answer.

Among other things, the solution checks:

  • Identity and permission posture in Entra ID
  • MFA and Conditional Access configuration
  • Potential exposures across users and groups
  • Licensing state and available security capabilities
  • Relevant Microsoft 365 settings
  • Baseline Azure security posture
  • Indications of Sentinel / Log Analytics usage where relevant

The core value is not just finding problems, but presenting them in a way that enables action. Each finding carries a severity level (Critical / High / Medium / Low), a short description of the risk, a possible attack scenario, a practical remediation recommendation, and a priority order based on severity and ease of implementation. For example, if sensitive users lack appropriate protections, or overly broad permissions exist that are not truly required, the system surfaces it as a clear recommendation instead of leaving the information scattered across portals.

Why it matters

Architecturally, using an Azure Function lets the logic run in a controlled way, with pre-defined permissions and room to extend the checks over time. Power Automate acts as the orchestration layer, and Copilot Studio provides a convenient conversational interface for the technical user or security manager. In a world where cloud environments change constantly, a one-time assessment is no longer enough. The right direction is a shift to continuous security posture management: repeated checks, clear recommendations, and prioritization based on real risk.

What to do

It is important to stress that this solution does not replace a full security review and is not a substitute for a cyber expert. Its goal is to give the organization a fast, structured, evidence-based snapshot, so you understand where to start. Combining a Copilot Agent with Azure Functions and Microsoft 365 lets you build a smart assessment layer over your environment, one that makes information accessible, shortens analysis time, and helps turn technical findings into clear security actions.
