Lion8 for Zoom — User Guide

YouCC Technologies Ltd.

The Lion8 app for Zoom gives your security team a continuous view of your Zoom account’s security posture. It reads your account and user security settings through a read-only, admin-managed Zoom app, checks them against security best practice, and shows each gap with the affected users and the steps to fix it in Zoom.

The app never writes, changes or deletes anything in your Zoom account, and it cannot access meeting, recording, chat or phone content.

Before you start

  • A Lion8 account for your organization. Lion8 is a service of YouCC Technologies; if you do not have an account, contact us.
  • A Zoom account Owner or Admin to approve the app. Only an Owner or Admin can add an admin-managed app.
  • If your Zoom account restricts app installs, an Owner or Admin allows it in the Zoom App Marketplace under Manage → Permissions.

Adding the app

  1. Sign in to Lion8 at lion8.app.youcc.co.il.
  2. Go to Integrations → Add new and select Zoom.
  3. Enter a name for the connection (for example, Production) and click Continue.
  4. Click Connect with Zoom. Zoom opens and lists exactly what the app may read.
  5. Sign in as a Zoom account Owner or Admin and click Allow.
  6. You are returned to Lion8 and the connection shows your Zoom account. The first scan starts automatically; you can also click Scan now at any time.

Not an Owner or Admin? Click Copy link for your admin and send the link to them. The link can be used once and is valid for 30 minutes.

Started from the Zoom App Marketplace? The authorization has to start from Lion8, so Lion8 knows which organization the Zoom account belongs to. Selecting the app in the Marketplace takes you to the Lion8 setup page — continue from step 1.

What the app reads

The app requests read-only scopes only:

  • Account settings and locked settings — meeting, security and recording settings for the whole account.
  • Users, roles and user settings — who has access, their role, how they sign in, last sign-in and each user’s own security settings.
  • Sign-in activity and the operation log — sign-in history and configuration changes.

Using the app

  • Security checks — SaaS Security → Checks, filtered to Zoom. Lion8 evaluates 66 account and user checks: sign-in and two-factor authentication, single sign-on, waiting room and passcodes, meeting authentication, recording security, screen sharing, chat and file transfer, admin roles and dormant users. Each failed check shows the affected users, why it matters and how to fix it in Zoom. You can accept the risk of a check or of an individual user. Prerequisite: a connected Zoom account.
  • Users — SaaS Security → Users. Zoom users appear in one list with the users of your other connected services, matched by email, showing their Zoom role, sign-in method, last sign-in and two-factor status.
  • Scans — Lion8 scans the account automatically twice a day. Click Scan now on the Zoom connection to scan immediately, for example after fixing a setting in Zoom.
  • Alerts (optional) — Settings → Alerts sends an email or webhook notification when a new check fails.

Troubleshooting

  • “You cannot authorize” in Zoom — the person approving is not an Owner or Admin, or the account restricts app installs. Use Copy link for your admin, or allow the app under Manage → Permissions in the Zoom App Marketplace.
  • The link has expired — authorization links are valid for 30 minutes and can be used once. Open the Zoom connection in Lion8 and click Connect with Zoom again.
  • “This Zoom account is already connected” — a Zoom account can be connected to one Lion8 organization only.
  • The connection asks you to reconnect — Zoom expires an authorization that has not been used for 90 days, or the app was removed in Zoom. Click Connect with Zoom to authorize again.
  • A check shows Not available — the feature is not part of your Zoom plan (for example, single sign-on), or Zoom did not return the setting. It is reported as not available rather than passing.
  • Anything else — contact support.

Removing the app

You can remove the app at any time, from Zoom or from Lion8:

  • From Zoom: sign in to the Zoom App Marketplace as an Owner or Admin, open Manage → Added Apps, select Lion8 and click Remove.
  • From Lion8: open Integrations, select the Zoom connection and click Delete integration. To also remove the app from your Zoom account’s Added Apps list, remove it in Zoom as well.

What happens when you remove it: Lion8 immediately loses access to your Zoom account. The access tokens are deleted, and all data Lion8 stored for that Zoom account — check results, scan history and the user list — is deleted. Zoom checks and Zoom users no longer appear in Lion8. Nothing in your Zoom account is changed. To use the app again, add it again from step 1.
